Cowichan District Hospital Replacement
A new Cowichan District Hospital will be built in the Cowichan Valley through Island Heath and the Province of British Columbia. The new community hospital will offer an integrated care model by connecting Island Health’s hospital-based services with primary care and other community-based services throughout the Cowichan region. The new building will be nearly three times larger than the current facility, with capacity for 204 beds, and more space to care for patients. This project is scheduled to begin construction in 2023 and be open for patients in 2027. Pre-construction work is underway now.
